- Cycle ride
At the heart of Hesbaye in the Brabant region, so pleasant to cycle through is the picturesque town of Perwez.
The region features "Bikes welcome" touristic sites and lodgings.
Start from the former railway station of Perwez then take the RAVel: what used to be line 147 linked Tamines to Tirlemont at the time. This green belt offers beautiful countryside views: look out for the stunning Alvaux farm along the way.
You will quickly reach the Seumay farm, used by monks of Heylissem in the XIIth century. From there, you will cycle through fields, glimpsing superb houses such as the Petite Cense farm, made of bricks and Gobertange stone.
Next are the peaceful village streets of Thorembais-les-Béguines and Wastines. At the latter, look out for the church and its Romanesque tower: the trail then enters the Malèves grove. Along the road is the Musée du Souvenir 1940-1945 (1940-1945 memorial museum - rue Cul de sac), founded by a passionate community to commemorate the dramatic history of the region. Soon after is the Odenge mill, then Orbais and the Vranckx farm, a listed building.
This pleasant trail finishes on the RAVel.
