The belfry of Gembloux, 35 metres high, dominates the city and is part of Unesco's World Heritage.

The base of the building is thought to date back to the 10th century. Originally built as the clock-tower of the former Saint-Sauveur church, this masterpiece came to symbolise the right to municipal freedom in the Middle Ages.

The belfry's Carillon

Set with 47 bells, this is one of the only 2 concert carillons in the province of Namur. It was beautifully renovated in 2009.

Have a look at the official website of the city of Gembloux to enjoy a slide show and audio file of the carillon's delightful chime.
