This exhibition, dedicated to thermal baths in spa celebrates the region's theme of choice for 2019: Wallonia, Land of Water.
Spa and its thermal baths: quite a story
This 250-year-old tradition has evolved through time: private baths for the 18th-century aristocracy, social therapy after the war, effervescent baths in the 19th century, swimming pools... Thermal trends followed society needs as much as they did medical discoveries.
The magnificent public spa, built 151 years ago in the very heart of the town, highlights this rich cultural heritage. It is still in use today, as the Thermes de Spa.
Towards UNESCO recognition
This exhibition, part of UNESCO's "great spas of Europe" project, presents another partner town: Bad Ems, pionnerr of thermal waters in Germany.
Every day between 2 and 6 pm.
