  • Folklore and Tradition

Discover a secular regional traditional: crossage, a medieval version of Lacrosse, played in Chièvres and many Walloon villages. This event takes place every year the day after Mardi gras.

This amazing game, played in the street, consists in hitting a chôlette (a ball made of foam or wood) with a rabot (stick). The aim is to hit beer barrels set in front of each café in town.

Program

  • A few days beforehand, during the Soumonces, the Prince of street Lacrosse is crowned.
  • On the day, from noon, players will stop in front of each café and start playing
  • A traditional dish is served in the evening
