Gros-Fays, one of the most beautiful villages in Wallonia

  • The most beautiful villages of Wallonia

Gros-Fays is a typical Ardennes village, part of the municipality of Bièvre in the Province of Namur.

The settlement is perched on the side of a hill that drops down towards the river Semois, well away from the main road. Gros-Fays, built mainly of schist, exudes an air of timeless peace and quiet, and is ideal for a gentle stroll.

So many gems to discover

One of the village’s most attractive features is a fine beech forest. Down the slope are disused old shale quarries and agricultural warehouses where locally-grown tobacco was dried.

Also worthy of note is a magnificent 17th century farmhouse and a wash house dating from 1865 near a circular drinking trough in the centre of the village.
