La Roche-en-Ardenne Carnival

  • Folklore and Tradition
From Friday 29 to Sunday 31 March 2019.

One of the newer dates on the Belgian festival calendar (just 40 years old!), La Roche-en-Ardenne Carnival is nevertheless already one of the most popular.

The ancient southern fortress town hosts a weekend-long festival every March, starting on the Friday night with an enormous bonfire and pork feast in the courtyard of its Medieval castle. On the Saturday, a Carnival Prince is named and crowned under the battlements before the traditional evening ball gets underway. The following day sees the main parade, with floats, dancing and live music, before the festivities close with another big feast . This time it’s under a marquee - for those survivors still upright after three days of revelry.

From Friday 29 to Sunday 31 March 2019.
