Nestled in a farm, at the heart of the village of Bouffioulx, the Dubois pottery reveals to visitors the skills of creating glazed pieces from the local sandstone (internationally famous), an art which started in medieval times in this region andis still kept alive.
The Dubois family settled down near Charleroi 150 years ago. Just imagine: this is now the 13th generation of potters presenting how to turn clay into artwork...
Discover the living museum of La Grange aux Potiers
The museum retraces how the local sandstone was used in creations between the 15th century and today. Along the centuries, it was turned into objects for the house (plates, contenants to preserve food...), work (agriculture, pharmacy, draining pipes...) or for decoration.
