2018 Commemorations in Mons | Celebrating the centenary of the liberation of the city by the Canadian troops

A hundred years ago, Canadian troops liberated Mons. The city will be celebrating the centenary of this event on November 10th and 11th, in partnership with Canada.

The people of Mons have at heart to pay a tribute to the soldiers who risked their lives to defend Belgium's freedom and rights. Learn more about the liberation of Mons here.

The 2018 commemoration

In collaboration with Quiévrain, Saint-Ghislain, Roeulx and Soignie, Mons will be organising ceremonies. concerts, a procession inspired by the liberation and a stunning show on George Price. Click here to see the program for the Saturday and here for the Sunday in Mons and its region.

Mons Commemorations November 2018

In November 2018, the city of Mons, in collaboration with the municipalities of the Roeulx, Soignies and Quiévrain, wishes to commemorate with dignity the centenary of its liberation by Canadian troops. The Montois want to thank those, who a century ago, fought at the peril of their lives to defend our freedom and our rights.
