Follow in the footsteps of the Battle of the Frontiers that ravaged the South of the Province of Luxembourg during the First World War.

From 22 to 24 August 1914, terrible clashes took place on the Franco-Belgian border between the German and French armies. The Battle of the Borders devastated the entire southern region of the Province of Luxembourg, but also extended from the French Lorraine to the region of Dinant.

The villages around Virton were particularly affected and many civilians were the innocent victims of these atrocious battles.


You can go to the scene of these tragic events strolling  individually or in groups. Whether for 1 day excursion or 1 formula stay 2 days / 1 night in a hotel of different categories, the circuits are adaptable on request.

The Gaulish village of Ethe This village martyr who was one of the most bruised during these fights and whose monument and the French cemetery testify to this tragic episode.

The Battle of the Frontiers Museum in Gaume, Latour A brand new scenography for the Latour Museum whose mission is to maintain the memory of the fighters but also the many civilians who fell during the cruel days of August 1914.

In Rossignol, you can follow the didactic walk "On the footsteps of 14-18" This one will take you to the memorial of the martyred village, in the woods and in the two French cemeteries.

This cross-border excursion programme will also allow you to visit other memorials on the other side of the French border.
