In the province of Hainaut, the ecomuseum of the land of the hills offers a trip to the rural past of the region, to the discovery of ancient agricultural techniques and traditions.
It has been more than 40 years since this museum works for the preservation and diffusion of the rural heritage of the land of hills. The history of the campaign, the know-how and the agricultural tools are on display thanks to a museum route designed to recreate the atmosphere of yesteryear. You will discover the agricultural hangars of the past 50 years based around the themes of the harvest and the work of the Earth and the rhythm of the seasons. Then you'll discover the rooms presenting the daily life and the handicrafts of the terroir. And finally, you can see an exhhibition of the objects found on the site of the Château of the comte morale of Egmont.
The Ecomuseum organizes temporary exhibitions devoted to rural life and, every first Sunday in August, invites you to participate in its great feast of the harvest.
It also has a conference room, a library, and a garden dedicated to ancient native species. The L'estaminet of the Museum welcomes you, in an atmosphere of the 1950's, to enjoy a local beer or a homemade juice.
