- Industrial heritage
- Museum & discovery
The Maître du Feu touristic centre in Amay invites you to discover its former 1897 forge. There you will learn about the rich geological heritage of the region, the industrial exploitations set up there and the workers of the Meuse basin in that era (their skills, life, living conditions and creations).
The Industrial Revolution left its print on the region: brickyards, lime kilns, mines... Take a closer look at this lesser known side of history, which shaped Wallonia.
A fascinating interactive route will present how clay was turned into bricks, chalk into lime, schist into alum. This journey through time will also explain how these products were and are still used.
Visitors can also explore the natural reserve of the Ampsin quarry, right in front of the site. Not being in use any more, it now offers a geological trail presenting extraction, rocks and biodiversity.
A guided tour can be arranged (do book in advance) in either French or Dutch.
Audio guides are available in French, Dutch, English and German.
