- Religious heritage
Discover the Maredsous beers and cheese at the Saint-Joseph centre, where the monks of the abbey will welcome you warmly for a delicious moment.
The Maredsous abbey, one of the most beautiful ones in Belgium, is located in the province of Namur, 25 km from the capital of Wallonia and 20 km from Dinant.
Guided tours in French and Dutch are organised. Your guide will show you around the abbey, the cemetery, the monks' garden, the ceramics workshop and the cheese dairy (from the outside). You can also learn how the famous cheese is refined at the « Petit Musée de la fromagerie » (the cheese dairy museum).
After your guided tour (with or without tasting) or a walk through the Molignée valley, relax at the abbey and chat with the monk who will be delighted to tell you more about their life.
A spiritual and soothing place
Benedictine monks built this superb neo-gothic building in 1872. Pilgrims and tourists will find at the Saint-Joseph centre a cafeteria, a souvenir shop and a free play area.
