This museum, created by Marcel and Mathilde Schmetz, is a place of remembrance dedicated to the 1st US Infantry Division in the province of Liège.
The Remember Museum, located 3 km from the American cemetery of Henri-Chapelle, is a must-see museum, great for its hospitality, originality and simplicity. It is a witness to the recognition of these "G.Is." who courageously fought for the freedom of the Belgian people.
Indeed, in November 1944, 110 American soldiers of the 26th regiment of the 1st infantry division settled for a few weeks on the farm of Mr. Schmetz father. This regiment left Clermont on December 16, 1944 to join the battlefields of the Ardennes. It was June 12, 1994 when Bennie Zuskin, American veteran of the 1st division, cut the inaugural ribbon of Remember Museum 39-45.
