A family mountain bike trail | Cycling trails in Wallonia

  • outdoors - cycling - nature - Wallonia - Bouillon
  • Mountain bike ride

This itinerary, a real journey through time, will give you a chance to admire the largest mediaeval castle in Belgium.

Bouillon is dominated by its impressive castle, built in the 10th century. The first km of the trails take you through the historical centre of the city, towards the back of the castle, quite pretty too.

Next is a beautiful road along the Semois, which will take you to the Codemois Abbey. It will feel like you have left the modern world behind... Take the time to visit the shop featuring products made by the monks.

Continue along the water until you reach a BBQ area then take the direction of the Moulin de l’Epine. The oath will get rockier at that stage but worry not, this is the only difficulty in the whole trail.

Cycling through a hardwood forest, you will get to the Curfoz heights. Meadows will take over, signalling a village is near. From there a path goes down all the way to Bouillon. At the bottom of the hill, you will have a splendid view on the historical city: built on a narrow strip of rock, it seems eerily balanced there.

If you still have some time, finish with the visit of the castle, offering fantastic panoramas on the region.
