- Museum or Interpretation Centre
Set in a superb 18th-century house, the Famenne & Art Museum is a place full of memories, emotions and respect. It is located in the historical centre of Marche-en-Famenne, in the province de Luxembourg.
The museum and its collections
The Famenne Museum focuses on life in the region through time, highlighting themes such as Prehistory and modern art. The Merovingian and Carolingian periods are showcased through artefacts found during excavations in Wellin and Hamoir. The Museum also pays tribute to the Master of Waha, a famous late gothic sculptor.
One gallery is dedicated to Famenne and Marche: they present the geological and historical characteristics of the region and the history of the cities. Another room presents the Monument, a 17th-century sanctuary. The professions from yesteryear, modern and contemporary art also are included.
