The Cherain mill near Gouvy (province of Luxembourg) is one of the last hydraulic mills in Wallonia. A passionate team brought it back to life after 40 years of inactivity.

One of the last mills still in use in Wallonia

The Périple en la demeure association decided to renovate this building for many reasons:

  • the beauty of this remarkable mill, which still has its machinery
  • keeping part of the local history alive
  • show visitors the tools and techniques used in the past
  • keep it a social place where people can meet and exchange memories and ideas

The wheel turns every Thursday, from 9 am till dawn. The mill sells the artisanal flour produced on site but you can also come and grind your own cereals.

We do our best to keep you informed. It's best, however, to check the latest news with the attraction you are visiting, or operator you have booked an activity with. Read our travel advice.
