Alberto Giacometti - Absolute Humanity, at th Cité Miroir in Liège, is the first monographic exhibition of this size presenting this artist's work in Belgium.
Drawing a head, representing a body, sketching a silhouette... Along 30 years of career, Alberto Giacometti placed man at the centre of his research, sketching human figures again and again.
Among the patterns he favours are standing women and heads, most often using his wife Annette and his brother Diego as models.
The galleries feature 35 bronze artworks and fascinating lithographies from Giacometti's iconic book, Paris sans fin.
The selection includes an analysis of the artist's work after the war, taking in account the historical context and Jean-Paul Sartre's existentialism, whom Giacometti often met with.
