  • Folklore and Tradition

The Saints Pierre-et-Paul march in Thy-le-Château is a celebration of the Walloon folklore in the region of Namur.

The village of Thy-le-Château has been celebrating the saints associated with its parish for 4,000 years. The Relève, the Zouaves and Saint Pierre et Paul companies, dressed in costumes inspired by the second Napoleonic empire. escort the reliquaries to the heart of the village. 550 persons join the procession, which always follows the same itinerary.

This march takes place every year on the last Sunday of June or the first Sunday following June 29.

UNESCO

Since December 2012, the Entre-Sambre-et-Meuse marches have been added to  UNESCO's list of intangible heritage.
