This exhibition, which takes place at the Maison de la Métallurgie et de l'Industrie, offers a real kaleidoscope of the industrial basin of Liège.

The history

In 2011, Thermos freight cars came to a halt. Called torpilles (torpedos), they were used to transport liquid iron (think 1,300 deg C!) from the Seraing or Ougrée blast furnaces to the Chertal steel mill. The local population, confident in their capacity, considered them part of the landscape.

The exhibitition

Photos, videos, testimonies, scale models, artefacts... will retrace that page of history. The Maison de la Métallurgie would like to keep and renovate at least one of those wagons (thermos, cigare mélangeurs, torpilles...), which are part of the region's DNA.

From 27 May to 31 August 2020.

Mondays to Fridays, from 9 am to 5 pm.
