A contemporary art museum
The Musée du Petit Format was founded in 1981 by art lovers wishing to allow a wider audience access to the full range of contemporary art. The headquarters of the museum are now at the regional cultural centre "Action Sud" in Nismes.
An impressive collection
More than 3,500 engravings, sketches, ink drawings, paintings, photographs, infographics are featured. This collection includes, amongst other gems, pieces by Christo and Jeanne Claude, Antonio Segui, Ben, Stanislav Fijalkowski, Pol Bury, Gabriel Belgeonne, Jo Delahaut, Emir Dragulj, Jacques Charlier, Maurice Pasternak, Félix Roulin, Roger Somville, Humio Tomita, Luc Van Malderen, Sixten Haage, Gilbert Decock, Jephan De Villers, Jiri Kolar, Mig Quinet…
A concept celebrating art
Every 2 years, the Musée du Petit Format organises a contemporary art biennale. More than 400 international plastic artists are invited to present a piece linked to and produced on paper, no bigger than an A4 format. The museum also hosts exhibitions, animations for school groups and initiations for adults. The exhibition space is open 250 days a year.
