  • Folklore and Tradition

Cayoteux was the name given to the heard workers mining for porphyry in the region, an industry which survived until the first half of the 20th century. Indeed, the volcanic rocks, in the subsoil, has rare properties. The process is now mechanised with modern machines. This event, taking place in Lessines, pays tribute to the workmen who did everything manually.

A week rich in emotions

There will be a wide range of animations offered during the week: a fun fair, folkloric concert... The most looked forward to is the traditional procession featuring nine giant puppets, representing some of the city's celebrities.

A wonderful way to learn more of the history of the region.
