Stop by the Musée d'Art contemporain d'Eupen (IKOB) to see Flagship Store, an exhibition dedicted to Daniel Knorr.
Born in Romania in 1968, Daniel Knorr is considered a master in semantic twists and audience participation. Viewers simply are drawn into his creations.
An example in 2017: the artist collected discarded objects from the streets of Athens, then inserted and pressed them into books, sold as unique creations. This financed his next installation.
Indeed in 2018, in Kassel (Germany), he designed a troubling show, meant for contemporary art lovers: white smoke continuously rising from a tower of the Fridericianum museum, evoking the beginning of a fire. Each worried passer-by calling the authorities contributed to this ephemeral work. As Knorr highlighted at the time: creating is existing.
This is the first time his work will be on show in Belgium. The 47 pieces on show offer a mischievous look on the history of art, question contemporary art and play with the codes of pop culture.
From 02 March to 25 April 2021.
