  • Folklore and Tradition

This event, first mentioned in official documents in 1276, is a half religious, half secular procession in Wallonia.

This fascinating gathering retains the same success year after year. The local population gathers around the reliquary and walks with it along a 14 km route, once followed by abbesses and canonesses. The pace is given by traditional psalms and ancient hymns specific to the region while the period costumes will give you an idea of the social levels in the Nivelles of yesteryear (15th and 16th century).

The Géants de Nivelles (giant puppets) lead this folkloric march.
