Partly located on the Hautes Fagnes plateau, Malmedy enjoys stunning views. The region, based on peat bogs and quite unique in Europe, offers a much different flora and fauna to the rest of the country, with beautiful woodlands to the south of the commune. There is much to discover, come along!
Extratrail
In Malmedy, 4 permanent trails (8, 18, 27 and 39 km) will show you the prettiest corners of the region. These marked paths all start from the town centre.
The Château of Reinhardstein
Built in 1354 by Renaud de Waimes, this castle was home to many families through time. Destroyed after the French Revolution, it was entirely rebuilt in 1969 and is now a museum featuring armours, weapons, tapestries and period furniture.
