The Château de Waroux, property of the commune of Ans, is easy recognisable by its sleek and elegant spire. The site, at the entrance of the region of Hesbaye, also is its culminating point (182 m high).
The castle seems to have been built around 1300, during the conflict with the Awans. At first glance, it seems rather austere, ready for war even. The external walls, made of sandstone and flint, high and hostile with only a few slits, betrays its feudal origins.
This historical monument is also anchored in the present. Now listed as exceptional cultural heritage of Wallonia, it opens its doors to the public, organising large exhibitions, facilitating the link between artistic excellence and the visitors.
Outside these exhibitions, groups can request to visit the castle. Book in advance by calling +32 (0)4/247 72 73
