The Folon Sculptures exhibition at Villers la Ville Abbey marks the Fondation Folon's 20th anniversary: for the occasion, 20 artworks from the world famous Belgian Artist will be on show in this incredible setting.
Folon and sculpture
Jean-Michel, both illustrator and painter, reinvented himself at the end of the 80ies by sculpting. Soon, he favours statuary, monumental sculptures made from moulds or cut directly in his material of choice.
Sublimed by a succession of patinas, his creations focus on humans and find their place in natural spaces landscapes, gardens, parks and of course galleries.

Folon loved contrasting the beauty of is art with the architecture of an historical locations, let alone see it evolve with seasons and light... At this Cistercian Abbey, his work find an echo in the hundred years old stone used to build it, as well as autumn and winter hues.
