  • Folklore and Tradition

Over 50,000 people flock to the streets of little Herve near Liège once a year for one of the most spectacular processions in Belgium....

Held on Easter Monday, since 1876, the Cavalcade of Herve is unique in that its dozens of colourful floats are all pulled along by local Ardennais and Brabant draught horses. This cavalcade has been taking place in Herve on Easter Monday since 1876... Quite the tradition!

Festivites and fun

Add fireworks, live music and dancing and it’s easy to see why it remains such a popular pull (look out in particular for the famous “Tir de Campes’ explosive show set off by the town’s pyromaniac fraternity, the Herve Carillonneurs).

The event, the past few years, has run across the whole Easter weekend: Caval'Rire evening, shows for children, serenades, horse fair, local market... Perfect for the whole family!
