Walking or hiking
This singular rock owes its geologic quality to its formation process. The Grand Cron de Lahage is a remarkable protected site, with an impressive 20 metres height.
This cron is made of many layers of calcareous tuff. Pasty to start with, they became a hard but porous rock with time. This kind of stone was used in the region for chimneys, vaults, indoor walls, mill wheels.
A slow formation
Spring water, falling on the Cron de Lahage, helped the moss to react and calcify: the limestone in the water sipped into the moss and extremely slowly turned it into stone.
