The Musée de la Mine et du Développement Durable, located in the Bois-du-Luc mining site (La Louvière) presents a fascinating exhibition: Made in Belgium, focusing on Belgian manufacturers in Egypt (1830 - 1952).

Put together by the Musée royal de Mariemont, this exhibition highlights the links between industry and cultural heritage in an era preceding Egyptian independence.

Visitors can discover:

  • the original blueprints of the Baume and Marpent companies, real works of art
  • objects brought back from the Nile Valley by these Belgian manufacturers
