Vieux caillous et noble pierre (Old rocks and noble stone) is a two-fold exhibition at the Gallo Roman cultural space in Ath and at the Stone Museum in Maffle. There you can learn about the rocks and stones part of Wallonia's history: from exquisite mosaic to walls, building techniques to jewellery.
Your ticket gives you access to both sides of the exhibitions as well as the museums' permanent collections.
A material with many uses
Visitors will get a chance to admire:
- Column capitals
- Intaglios (semiprecious stones used for jewellery)
- Grinder wheels
- Carrare and Tunisian marble
- Sandstone and Blue stone features
- Sacred statues and religious decorative elements
