Discover WW1 historical and memorial sites in and near Ploegsteert with an expert and by mini bus.
Between 1914 and 1918, Ploegsteert and the nearby communes would witness fierce fighting between the two opposite sides, a violence that would touce the civilians too.
See where the iconic Christmas Truce took place in 1914, where Churchill and Hitler stayed in the region, the Ploegsteert forest and Hill 63, near the craters created by exploding mines, the many military cemeteries paying tribute to British soldiers... You can also extend the visit to Messines and Armentières.
