This node network is perfect to explore the region between the Anlier forest and the Gaume.

From the railway station in Marbehan, the trail proves a little mischievous, offering superb curves, although easy to cycle.

From Mortinsart à Nantimont, the CYRUSE network will take you to Habay-la-Vieille, a beautifully preserved village near Habay-la-Neuve. Going along the ponds, you will notice a former plant, which was quite successful in the 17th and 18th century for mining iron for the forges of the Trapperie, Pont d’Oye, Châtelet and the Bologne.

The lush forest provided fuel for the forges (coal) and the Rulles river the hydraulic power. The industry started to decline when technology started to evolve in the first half of the 19th century: steam engines replaced hydraulic power and coke coal.

Athus, Longwy and Seraing, in turn, knew fame too. On the way back, a little after Nantimont, on the plateau of Mageroy, stand the ruins of a Gallo-Roman villa, a large farm operated from the 1st to the 4th century before Christ. You then will get to Villers-sur-Semois, at the very beginning of the Semois river. From the plain meanders another river, the Rulles, which you will follow after passing Ansart, before reaching Marbehan.
